Power-station coal prices at Australia’s Newcastle port, an Asian benchmark, decreased 1.3 per cent in the week ended today. Coal prices at the New South Wales port fell to $121.48 a metric tonne from $123.12 the previous week, according to the globalCOAL NEWC Index. Xstrata Plc, the world’s largest exporter of power-station coal, BHP Billiton Ltd and Rio Tinto Group are among mining companies that ship coal through Newcastle.
