Credit Suisse Group AG hired Saqib Islam from Lazard Ltd. as a managing director and head of health-care equity capital markets, which underwrites and sells stocks. Saqib was a health-care banker at Lazard, according to a memo obtained today by Bloomberg. He will start in February and be based in New York. Spokesman Duncan King confirmed the contents of the memo. He will report to Jeffrey Bunzel, head of equity capital markets in the Americas. Saqib worked at Morgan Stanley from 2000 to 2009, where he ran health-care equity capital markets since 2004. His clients at Morgan Stanley included Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc and Onyx Pharmaceuticals Inc. He holds a law degree from Columbia Law School and is a graduate of McGill University in Montreal.
