Global marine terminal operator DP World has taken delivery of 15 additional new cranes at its Jeddah facility, located within the South Container Terminal (SCT) at Jeddah Islamic Port in Saudi Arabia.
The investment in the 15 state of the art cranes aims to increase productivity and assure the highest operating standards at DP World Jeddah, which sits alongside of the world’s busiest shipping lanes.
The commissioning of the new equipment has started and will be completed in a month's time, when all machinery will be fully operational.
Manufactured by Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery Company (ZPMC) of China, the mega-lifters include three Super-Super Post Panamax (SSPP) cranes and 12 Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes.
The SSPP cranes each have a capacity of 65 tonnes and an outreach of 55 metres, while the RTGs are capable of lifting one-over six container tiers and stacking containers in six rows.
All the cranes are capable of servicing next-generation mega container vessels.
