Drake & Scull’s Qatar affiliate has been awarded its first contract worth Dh140.2 million ($38m) for a mixed-used project to be built in the Al Sadd district of Doha, the company announced on Monday.
Drake & Scull International Qatar (DSQ), a mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) company, was recently acquired by Dubai-based contractor Drake & Scull International (DSI) as it seeks to enter Qatar’s construction and property sectors.
"We acquired DSQ in expectation of tapping into the liquid markets of Qatar, so we are very pleased to see rapid progress in Qatar in line with our horizontal growth strategy", says DSI chief executive Khaldoun Tabari.
The company is optimistic about the Qatar market as government spending continue to pour into infrastructure development projects.
This new contract strengthens our position as a regional leader in the MEP contracting industry while enhancing our access to a broader range of construction opportunities, adding manifold value to our portfolio for the benefit of all our stakeholders", Tabari added.
