Egypt sales comprised 1,272 tonnes of Giza 88 grade cotton and 1,760 tonnes of Giza 86 grade. (REUTERS)
Egypt's Alexandria Cotton Exporters' Association (Alcotexa) committed to sell 3,032 tonnes of cotton in the week that ended on January 7, an Alcotexa official said on Monday.
The sales comprised 1,272 tonnes of Giza 88 grade cotton and 1,760 tonnes of Giza 86 grade, the official said.
The deal brings Alcotexa's export commitments for the 2011/12 season, which began in September 2011, to 30,308 tonnes worth $102.94 million.
By this time last year, Alcotexa had sold 90,396 tonnes of cotton worth $338m.
