Rapper Eminem was the best-selling artist of the last decade, beating out The Beatles and country music star Tim McGraw, U.S. album sales show.
The Detroit Free Press said Sunday that Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, sold a total of 32.2 million albums during the last 10 years thanks to hits like "Lose Yourself," which topped the Billboard's Hot 100 for three months.
The rapper, whose origins can be traced to the Detroit area, easily defeated The Beatles for the decade's album sales crown as the famed British band earned 29.9 million album sales in total.
Country music singers Tim McGraw and Toby Keith came in third and fourth on the album sales list with 24.6 million and 24.4 million albums sold respectively.
Fifth place went to pop star Britney Spears with 22.9 million and country music placed another star in the top spots with Kenny Chesney in sixth with 21.96 million.
The Free Press said the remaining spots went to Linkin Park in seventh with 21.4 million, rapper Nelly in eighth with 21.2 million, Creed in ninth with 20.5 million and 10th place going to rapper Jay-Z thanks to 20.3 million album sales
