Elevation Partners LP, the biggest shareholder in Palm Inc., hired former Apple Inc. executive Avie Tevanian to help the firm gauge new investments. Tevanian, who was Apple’s chief software technology officer until 2006, joins Elevation as a managing director, the Menlo Park, California-based firm said today in a statement. Tevanian, 48, worked with Apple Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs at Next Computer Inc. and stayed with him when Apple bought that company in 1997.
