Tony Ball, the former chief executive of pay-TV group BSkyB, is in talks to take the top role at ITV, a person familiar with the situation said on Thursday.
The person said Ball was currently negotiating the terms of his contract, to become chief executive at Britain's biggest commercial free-to-air broadcaster. The Times newspaper also reported that the ITV nomination committee was expected to meet on Friday to resolve any remaining issues, which were not thought to be serious.
