Fox International Channels (FIC), a unit of News Corp, is to move some operations to Abu Dhabi in a new partnership with a state-sponsored media firm, it announced on the eve of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Media Summit. The partnership will see Fox working with twofour54, a government-led project that is part of the Abu Dhabi Media Company, in its online business, documentary production, and channel operations, FIC said on Monday. Oil-rich Abu Dhabi is pushing to establish itself as a cultural hub for the Middle East, making investments and developing media initiatives in a bid to diversify its economy. The new partnership joins a long list of collaborations between twofour54 and international media firms. "FIC will move the playout and operations of some of its channels available in the Middle East from Hong Kong and other locations to a new centralised facility in Abu Dhabi operated by twofour54," FIC said. Twofour54's objective is to create partnerships in areas including television, radio, film, publishing, online, mobile, music, gaming and animation.
