Fox says debut of ninth ‘Idol’ season draws 29.8m viewers

“American Idol” attracted 29.8 million viewers to the Fox network last night in the opening of the show’s ninth season. “Idol” posted a 1 per cent increase in the 18-to-49-year- old rating compared with last year’s debut, Los Angeles-based Fox said today in an e-mailed statement.
