Adoption of the planned Gulf single currency could take up to 10 years, Kuwait Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad al-Salem al-Sabah said on Tuesday. "Issuing the (Gulf) currency, as the central bank governor clarified, will take a long time and could reach up to 10 years," Sheikh Mohammad told parliament. Shortly after his speech, Kuwaiti deputies ratified the Gulf monetary union, giving a boost to the long-standing project. Kuwait has signed up for the project together with Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain.
