Further to the measures taken to control the spread of H1N1 infection, the Health Authority - Abu Dhabi (HAAD), the regulatory body of the healthcare sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, issued a circular to all healthcare facilities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi on the H1N1 vaccination process of healthcare workers.
Healthcare facilities are to determine priority groups and organize the vaccination process to cover all its healthcare workers. Engineer Zaid AL Siksek, CEO of HAAD said: "It is important to protect healthcare workers; they should get the vaccine against the H1N1 influenza. By being vaccinated, healthcare workers decrease their likelihood of contracting H1N1 influenza and decrease the chance of infecting others. It is imperative for health care workers to set an example for the patients they serve by being vaccinated and also by being informed with the most current H1N1 influenza information in order to properly educate them." The Health Authority - Abu Dhabi has set a plan in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) to ensure the vaccination of all healthcare workers including private sector.
