Johnson Controls announces 'Web-based greenhouse gas reporting system' for corporates in Middle East
Johnson Controls announced an enhanced Energy and Emissions Management System for corporates in the Middle East. The system provides organizations with the capability to analyze energy trends and calculate greenhouse gas levels.

It measures, manages and forecasts activities related to energy cost, consumption, energy efficiency projects, fleet emissions, and waste.

Organizations can receive easy-to-understand, auditable reports to validate incoming data.

Delivered by Johnson Controls Global WorkPlace Solutions, the Energy and Emissions Management System is Web-based and incorporates one of the most advanced management software programs available to meet greenhouse gas emission reporting standards, according to Groom Energy Solutions, a renewable and energy efficiency service provider.

The system currently manages $1 billion of annual energy spend and annually monitors 63 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions for 5,000 buildings located in 88 countries. Over the last eight years, the system has captured more than 8,000 energy and cost savings initiatives nearly half of which were achieved for global companies including Pfizer, Wyeth, Dell and Xerox resulting in savings of $1bn and 6.2 million metric tons of CO2 or the equivalent.

The Energy and Emissions Management System is user-friendly, global system that includes international support of data entry. In addition, a greenhouse gas inventory module automates carbon accounting based on the World Research Institute and World Business Council for Sustainable Development GHG Protocol.

The GHG module consolidates all sources of greenhouse gas emissions, baseline adjustments, and credit trading impacts to generate a transparent, verifiable greenhouse gas inventory.

Johnson Controls also recently introduced its MyGreenprint initiative to improve efficiency in residential and nonresidential facilities to tackle the current challenging market conditions. Greenprint is a new online tool from Johnson Controls in conjunction with one of the most effective environmental action organizations in US - National Resources Defense Council (NRDC).

This initiative will help consumers and businesses in the UAE and across Middle East assess and improve levels of personal sustainability at home, at work and on the road.

Magdy A. Mekky, Vice President & Managing Director, Middle East said, 'More than ever before, efficiency has become the new industry metric. People who design, build, own and operate buildings need to not only control energy costs, reduce the environmental impact and increase the value of their buildings, but do it more efficiently' concluded Mr. Mekky.
