Kids’ Tylenol recalled over possible contamination

Saturday, 26 September 2009  at  10:43, Bloomberg
Johnson & Johnson voluntarily recalled some children’s and infants’ Tylenol products because of possible bacterial contamination of ingredients, according to the US Food and Drug Administration.

The recall of liquid versions of the over-the-counter painkiller and cold medicines was done as a “precautionary measure” by McNeil Consumer Healthcare, a unit of New Brunswick, New Jersey-based J&J, the FDA said today on its Web site. No patients reported illnesses from these products, the agency said. The affected lots were manufactured from April 2008 to June 2008, according to a statement from McNeil. While the raw materials may have been tainted, the company analysis of the finished product showed no bacterial impurities, the FDA said.
