Kuwait Energy strikes two oil discoveries in Egypt
Kuwait Energy Company said it struck two new oil discoveries in Egypt's Western Desert, bringing the total to 11.

The oil discoveries were made in Shebl-1 and Shebl East-1 wells, the privately owned company said on Tuesday, with initial tests showing a combined production capacity of 2,100 barrels per day (bpd).

"Eleven discoveries in Egypt over a three-year period is very pleasing, and I'm looking forward to the results of our other 2011 exploration wells in Abu Sennan and Area A," said Chief Executive Sara Akbar in a statement.

Kuwait Energy has a 49.5 per cent working interest in East Ras Qattara, which it acquired in March 2008, while Chile-based Enap Sipetrol owns 50.5 per cent.
