MAF's Fujairah mall on track for 2012 opening

Majid Al Futtaim Properties' Fujairah City Centre shopping mall has confirmed it is 'on-target' schedule for its opening in early 2012, the mall developer said in a statement.

The project is currently under development in partnership with the government-owned Fujairah Investment Establishment.

MAF said it has achieved a near-100 per cent fully leased status, with 100 of total 105 retail outlets confirmed to-date .

With a gross leasable area (GLA) of 34,000 square metres , the mall’s varied retail mix will cater to the immediate needs and projected growth of the Fujairah community and includes Carrefour hypermarket and several new brands to the region.

Construction has reported over 1,000,000 (one million) hours logged across a workforce of 1,100, operating as an accident-free site.

The property is eyeing a Gold LEED rating according to the USGBC Green Building Guidelines, a first in the emirate to achieve a LEED rating.

Constructive advancements to-date have also resulted in an accelerated tenant fit out schedule with tenant fit-out commencing in October – two months ahead of schedule. This update was recently communicated to retailers by Majid Al Futtaim Properties, reaffirming the mall’s strong progress and on-track delivery of the opening as planned.

The shopping mall is located on the intersection of the new Fujairah-Dubai highway and the existing Masafi Highway at the entrance to Fujairah City. Khansaheb Civil Engineering is the contractor for the estimated Dh400 million project.
