The new year holds great opportunities in business, personal development, local and global collaborations, and any form of mutual partnerships beneficial to the parties involved. The main concern however, is that individuals all over the world are currently living in fear over loss of jobs, financial responsibilities they are currently bearing and so many insecurities that affect their daily lives. Yet the majority of us are oblivious to the many opportunities that are available. Still, most of us have not been exposed to the kind of mind-set required to transform our lives, live our dreams and succeed in what we desire to achieve. In the world today, our lives are literally in our own hands and it is up to us to ‘Be the change we wish to see in the world’, so aptly quoted by Ghandi, but very relevant in the mind-set of the advancing entrepreneur today.
Employment and the continual provision thereof hold a huge degree of respect in my books and I say this, because not all of us are entrepreneurs, some of us have different desires, goals and objectives. But for those who do have the gift of entrepreneurship, then let me assure you that you are different and that is why you feel like nobody understands you. I am here to tell you that I believe you because I felt the same from a young age. So I urge you to believe in your dreams and commit yourself to this goal.
A key and integral component of an entrepreneurs life today is social media networking, because you simply cannot advance, acquire the key knowledge and exposure you need to start your business as ‘masterminding’ has become a treasure in these circles. Entrepreneurs globally are hugely encouraging, brainstorming ideas and new concepts, formulating joint ventures and collaborations and supporting each other relentlessly. You could never imagine a stranger suddenly becoming your closest supporter. How did that happen? Well, we need to open our minds, be susceptible to change, see the light and leap into the sphere that is awaiting us, because there is so much to grasp, learn and apply.
All of this might seem weird to you but it evolves around what your key focus is currently. Most of us are driven by money. Many of us are finding a lack of money in our lives because we have issues with the discussion or money, acknowledging money, welcoming money and generally accepting that wealthy people are in that position because they are open to receiving money, simultaneously respecting money. What is this entire money story you may ask? Fact is, there is enough money for all, and sufficient opportunity for anyone who wants to receive it. The secret is to give more value for what you expect in monetary terms and it will flow your way without a doubt.
So the next statement you may make is that you have nothing to sell, no product, no service or anything that you can think of that can be a revenue generating machine. Fact is, we all have something to sell, because we are all knowledgeable on a specific subject, no matter who you are, where you find yourself or how hopeless a situation you think you created for yourself at this time.
Confidence building plays an integral part of the support one experiences in social networks. That is just a small component of the secret to success. The very important commitment that you must give is your time, commitment and willingness to learn, support, give and receive from your peers in those groups. There is an immeasurable ‘pot of gold’ in the form of information in these social networks and generally on the Internet. But the major problem is that we are too focused on the social aspect, when actually we should be gearing in on the business opportunities, which are plentiful.
Now if you continue to try to justify your inability to initiate a successful business, even starting on a small scale, progressing to your future goals then it is my pleasure to present to you a typical example. If you formulated a strategy that you followed with every inch of commitment and dedication then the following is an example of what young entrepreneurs are achieving globally on the Internet today, via social networks.
Hypothesise you are an expert make-up artist, achieved marginal success and understand your profession well, so your level of confidence is above average where this job requires you to perform independently. However, you are currently employed with a TV Station. So the question is how can you become an entrepreneur and live your passion since you enjoy what you do? The key word here is passion and I will explain below.
Following is a key example of generating passive and active revenue in your field of expertise:
1) Setup a basic website, with a welcome video of brief introduction of yourself;
2) Secure their name and email for your mailing list via available software;
3) Setup 3 categories of ‘membership’ where one can be limited and is free of cost; the remaining has a cost attached where you generate a fixed monthly income. With this you provide additional services i.e. monthly newsletter, weekly tips, free gifts/vouchers etc.;
4) Compile video’s CD’s/VCD’s in packs of 4 on ‘How to apply professional makeup for various themes’;
5) Facilitate one workshop per week for 20 candidates demonstrating these applications;
6) Secure your own mobile application so your clients can download it onto their iPhones, hence you are branding your name/brand;
7) Setup your social media pages, link them and remain active
The above is just an example as there are so many other products and services you could offer in this field.
Your monthly revenue would be as follows:
3) Membership fees – 100 members @ $49.00 p/m = $4,900.00 p/m
4). CD/VCD series pack – 20 sales @ $150 p/m = $3,000.00 p/m
5) Weekly workshops – 4 (1 x p/w) @ $100 pp x 20 persons = $8,000.00 p/m
Basic total = $15,900.00 p/m (AED 58,353.00)
This excludes any other revenue generated from additional services. Now if we had to reduce the total monthly income to 50 per cent, then I would still convince you that entrepreneurship is for you.
What are the benefits of self-employment?
1) You are afforded the opportunity to pursue your passion, whatever that vocation is;
2) You are your own boss, your timings are your own and you remain independent;
3) You earn money while sleeping – this is the beauty of ‘passive income’
4) You get to actively network, initiate new relationships for a continuity of business;
5) No money paid for advertisements as they are all free of cost online;
6) You build and establish sound collaborations online and leverage off this for future opportunities;
Globally, the world is moving towards a huge self-sufficiency factor, where we are the drivers of our own destiny, where the belief is once we experience this success, we will never look back, simply because we don’t need to.
The basic operation of such a business can be very controlled because there are major outsourcing methods you can utilise to ensure you achieve a quality product, presented professionally, for a fraction of the price, all done by online freelancers.
My final point is there is no greater feeling on earth than when you follow your passion, because only then do you excel at everything you touch because it does make a difference.
