Ranbaxy recalls antidepressant in UK on information leaflets

Wednesday, 19 May 2010  at  11:52, Bloomberg
Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd, India’s largest drugmaker, is recalling unused stock of three batches of Mirtazapine antidepressant tablets in the UK because their information leaflets haven’t been updated. The batches, F15060 of 15-milligram strength, F19430 of 15 mg, and F14362 of 45 mg, lack safety warnings initiated by the European Medicines Agency, the London-based Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency said in a statement on its website. Ranbaxy (UK) Ltd is conducting the recall, it said. The drugmaker has already recalled unexpired stock of Sertraline 50-mg and 100-mg tablets for the same reason and other products are under review, the regulator said in the May 13 statement. Sertraline, sold as Zoloft by Pfizer Inc., is also an antidepressant.
