Reliance to start Jamnagar refinery gasoil unit this week

Wednesday, 27 April 2011  at  10:51, Bloomberg
Reliance Industries Ltd, owner of the world’s largest refining complex, will start a vacuum gasoil unit at its facility in western India this week, said two people with knowledge of the plan. The plant was shut for planned maintenance last month for about 25 days, the people said, asking not to be identified because the information is confidential. Manoj Warrier, a Mumbai-based spokesman for Reliance, didn’t respond to an e-mail requesting comment.

The 100,000 barrel-a-day facility produces fuels such as diesel and gasoline and is part of Reliance’s older 660,000 barrel-a-day refinery at Jamnagar in the state of Gujarat. Reliance, controlled by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, has a newer 580,000 barrel-a-day facility at the site. The company’s two refineries at Jamnagar constitute about 1.6 per cent of global refining capacity, according to the company’s website.
