Samsung Notebooks Show 180% Market Growth for Q2 2009

Samsung Electronics, today announced that it has been named the fastest growing PC vendor in EMEA by Gartner, with a 180 per cent growth in the second quarter over the corresponding period last year. According to DisplaySearch's Quarterly Notebook PC Shipment Forecast Report, the market for all portable PCs moved past 38 million units shipped in the Q209. Netbooks continued to see the most significant growth in terms of units shipped, up 40 per cent quarter-over-quarter.

"Samsung may be a recent player in the mobile PC space, but we are quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with. Gartner’s report that Samsung grew 180 percent year on year is testimonial to our innovative products,” said Madhav Narayan, General Manager, IT division, Samsung Gulf Electronics.
