Saudi state grains authority has bought 990,000 tonnes of wheat of Canadian and German origins which would be delivered as of October, the official SPA news agency reported on Sunday.
SPA quoted the state's Grain Silos and Flour Mills Organization (GSFMO) as saying that 10 cargoes would be shipped to the Red Sea port city of Jeddah and eight to the Eastern port city of Dammam.
European traders said on Wednesday that GSFMO was seeking high quality wheat for shipment spread over the October 2010-April 2011 period.
It was one of the largest grain tenders issued this year.
