Toyota cuts production at Vietnam unit

Toyota Motor Corp. will cut production at its Vietnam unit to 30 per cent of capacity from today due to a shortage of parts caused by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

The plant will operate at the reduced level until June 3, Toyota Motor Vietnam said in a statement on its website. The move is in line with production reductions at other Toyota facilities in the Asia and Oceania regions, the statement added. The company will carry out “plant improvement activities” and staff training during the period of reduced production, the statement said.
