Internet subscribers with UAE telecoms operator du may face slower speeds after a submarine cable between Dubai and Oman was cut on Tuesday, the firm said.
"We expect some slowness especially in peak times," the statement said. "We have taken immediate action ... by re-routing our traffic over multiple alternative cable systems to reduce the impact of the cable cuts.
"According to cable operators, the repair process has already started and performance is expected to go back to normal levels within the coming few days."
du did not say how the cable was cut. The telco had issued a similar warning in December.
